DC Coast? or DC Gross?
So Chris and I decided to grab dinner out last night - somewhere close to our new sexy diggs on Thomas Circle… so we figured we'd go to the old, uppity political standby - DC Coast.
Now, we are hungry, thirsty and have been working for 14 hours, so I'm thinking we are pretty easy targets for a positive restaurant experience.
However, DC Coast managed to completely disappoint, from beginning to end. First the waiter tells Chris all about a special that he later finds out the kitchen is out of. Then he recommends a sub-par, overpriced Pinot Noir that didn't pair particularly well with either of our dishes (and it finally arrived at our table as our appetizers were carted away).
The fish fell flat and was fairly tasteless. Our dirty plates also sat in front of us for at least 15 minutes before being cleared.
$150 is not chump change for dinner in DC. I expect a little something extra - particularly at a restaurant as lauded as DC Coast.
Very disappointing – we won’t be visiting again.
