Hi, My name is...

My name is Mary Whittle. Small town California girl, big time wall street....political...non-profit consulting...public relations (what's next - bartending?) dreams....

I believe in giving handouts. both from the government and from my own pocket. I believe in the inherent good in almost all people, despite occasional evidence to the contrary. I believe in making jokes about almost everyone and everything. I believe in being friends with republicans, even though I occasionally want to slap them. I believe in Hillary Clinton (and obama and edwards - but most especially hillary - what do you want from me? I went to Smith). I believe in cradle to grave care for our citizens and I believe that it is possible to have good public schools in my lifetime with the right leadership.

I believe that I still don't know if I ever want to go to grad school. I believe I have found the man I want to marry. I believe that I live beyond my means and I really need to get better about that. I believe in Rosa Mexicana's margaritas.

I also believe that California is a better place to live than Washington, DC but I also believe there is a reason I have been here as long as I have. I believe in trial lawyers. I believe in admitting mistakes, even if you are not sure you have made one. I believe in empowering talent to shoot far beyond what you yourself are capable of.

I believe that the internet is the most hopeful, revolutionary and dangerous development of my lifetime.

I believe we never should have gone to Iraq. I believe Democrats were cowards for voting to go.  I believe there is no good answer now. For us or for Iraq.

I believe in God. I believe that most religions get it wrong to some extent, but there is grace and a flow to our lives on earth.

I believe in Sex in the City (the show). I believe in Harry Potter. I believe in the Italian way of life. I believe in really good cabernet. I believe in long vacations and I believe that every person has a gift to give this world and it's not always going to be found professionally.

I think that's all for now. Maybe I will write a post again someday on this blog. We'll see.
